Special Constables

Since the 19th century, special constables have been offering invaluable support to our regular officers on the beat and in the community. As a special constable, you'll work alongside our regular officers – with similar powers, a uniform and comprehensive training – forging strong partnerships in the community, patrolling our streets, preventing crime and interacting with all kinds of people. The job is diverse but demanding. So you could be doing anything from policing a football match to assisting at a road accident. Most of our special constables work at least four hours a week – arranged to suit their lifestyle.

The Next Special Constable Intake is in March 2009

We are currently actively recruiting special constables and welcome applications at any time.

If you are interested, or want any further information, an application form can be downloaded from our How to Apply - Special Constables page or can be obtained by calling 01355 566352 or by e-mailing recruiting.police@strathclyde.pnn.police.uk

We're also running a series of special constable information days. For more details, check out our events page .
